Hi everyone. Hope you’re having an an awesome Wednesday. Today we’re turning our attention to words; we’ll focus on the power they possess and the need to be careful how we use them.
Words are but wind, but blows unkind.
British Proverb
Children used to tell the above quote to anyone who said hurtful things to them. As a child, I believed it. As I grew older and had people say really hurtful things to me or about me, I realized how wrong that statement is.
I had thrashings, at home and at school and they were painful at the time but the pain soon faded away. Hurtful words can be painful for years. In fact, when you think about them years later, you can experience pain that is as intense as at the moment they were said.
We should think about how our words will affect someone before we say them. How would those words make us feel? Would we want someone to say them to us? If they would make us feel terrible and we would not want them to be said to us, why would we say them to someone?
Words have the power to wound and to heal. Let us endeavor to say only healing words to the people around us.
Looking forward to hearing from you, as usual.
So true 👍
Thanks for the feedback Bonny.
